The longer your Earth Journey grows, the experience of witnessing friends and loved ones complete their journey increases. I remember as a very young girl going to my Great Grandmother’s funeral. It was the first time I had ever seen a family member in a casket. I never saw her dressed that way. I knew her as Grand Nana. She was a kind and soft spoken woman who was often in the kitchen cooking and baking. Her apartment always smelled of culinary delights. As time moved on other family members completed their journey. Grand Parents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins. Then one day it was my Father and now my Mother is currently in Hospice Care.
I am very grateful to all of you who read, share and comment on my articles and stories. They will be a little less frequent as I navigate the days ahead with my Mother and family.

Hi Gerri,
I apologize for having to send this email to you via Substack but the email I sent to you via native hoof was blocked. I am sorry to hear that you’re going through this time with your mom in hospice. I hope this is not too much of an imposition to ask you a question. First, I want to tell you that our horses are scheduled to arrive to us on Wednesday! We are very excited and a little nervous too!
One is a 8-10 year old thoroughbred gelding and the other 18-20 y.o. Missouri Walker, mare…. Both need attention to their feet, but especially the thoroughbred. I will complete the form you sent me for each horse and get them back to you however considering your situation I will leave it up to you as to when you can come visit and evaluate and trim their feet.
My question has to do with a recommendation for a feed to put weight on the thoroughbred. He’s not terribly underweight, a few ribs showing and has been on hay with nothing additional at the rescue. Being a thoroughbred I would like him to be at a good weight come winter. Anything you feel would be best?
Thank you,
Sue
